ROSELLE, NJ - Harrison School celebrated their annual “International Day of Peace” event on Thursday morning, by placing pinwheels on the front lawn of the school.
This is the 9th year the students and staff have participated in the Pinwheels for Peace event. Students wrote their thoughts about war and peace, tolerance, living in harmony with others, anti-bullying, and anti-violence, on a slip of paper that was placed on the pinwheel.
The students then placed their pinwheels on the school lawn where the words Love, Peace, a heart and peace symbols were chalked on the grass, for the whole community to see their messages of hope.
The students also performed a song called “Let’s Talk About Peace”.
The pinwheels also serve as a visual statement from the youth to the community about the need for peace in the world.
Below are video highlights of the event.
