ELIZABETH, NJ - On Saturday, Nov. 22, Feed the Children and Trinity Christian Center (www.tcc-nj.org) will provide one truckload of food and essentials to 400 families in need from Elizabeth and the surrounding towns. Distribution of the boxes will begin at 10 a.m. for pre-registered families at Trinity Christian Center (TCC), located at 417 Pennington St., corner of West End Ave., in Elizabeth.  There is one pre-registration date left: Friday, Nov. 21 from noon to 5 p.m.

TCC has pre-registered families in need who will each receive a box of food adequate to feed a family of four for one week as well as a box of basic toiletries and essentials. Avon Products is also providing a box of personal cosmetic items. This will be just one of many distributions Feed the Children has planned across the country to help our hunger crisis, and prevent children from going to bed hungry, because hunger can’t be tackled alone.
Hunger affects people all over the United States. One in five children across the nation has parents who can’t afford to buy food, toiletries such as shampoo, deodorant and toilet paper, or school supplies. In Elizabeth alone, nearly 20 percent of people live below the poverty line.

“At Feed the Children, we’re focused on helping kids be kids,” said Kevin Hagan, President and CEO of Feed the Children. “When kids are hungry, they are worrying about where their next meal will come from, and aren’t given the opportunity to just be a kid and have fun.  That’s why we are trying to defeat hunger, to give kids their childhood back.”
