Nutley Police Department: Video Does Not Contain Direct Threat to Nutley Public Schools

NUTLEY, NJ - The Nutley Police Department reports that the video leading to Nutley Public Schools being closed on Friday did not pose a direct threat to any of the township's schools.

Police reported at 11 a.m. Friday that the person responsible for the video has been cooperating with the Nutley Police Department in their investigation. Interviews are on-going. The department is also investigating all technology based information related to this incident. 

The Nutley Police Department stressed that the facts uncovered so far indicate that there does not appear to be an immediate threat to any of the Nutley Public Schools for the public.

Nutley Superintendent of Schools Dr. Julie Glazer made the decision Thursday night to close schools on Friday, February 16 as a precautionary measure. All after-school activities for the day were also canceled. 

Public Safety Director Alphonse Petracco and Chief of Police Thomas Strumolo reassure parents/guardians, students and school employees that the department is taking all available steps to ensure their safety.
