Mariner’s Pointe Offers Modern Townhomes with Deeded Boat Slips within Commuting Distance of NYC

HOPATCONG, NJ – The opportunity to own a brand new townhome right on the shores of Lake Hopatcong is attracting buyers to Mariner’s Pointe, where homes priced from the mid $400s are moving quickly.

For mortgage payments that are less than the cost of rent in Hoboken and Jersey City, and much less than the even the state’s cheapest beachfront homes, buyers can live right on New Jersey’s largest lake and enjoy pristine views over open water every day. The community includes a number of upscale amenities and lakefront recreation spaces, as well as a private deeded boat slip that comes with each home. It is also conveniently located close to Route 80, less than an hour’s drive from Manhattan, and just three minutes away from NJ Transit’s Lake Hopatcong rail station.

Three distinctive home designs are currently available at Mariner’s Pointe, boasting either a wooded home site just steps from the lake, or a lakefront home site with spectacular views. Perhaps the best combination of lakefront luxury and value is the “Spinnaker” home design, a two-bedroom home located right on the water.

The Spinnaker homes at Mariner’s Pointe start at $449,000 and offer two bedrooms and 1,606 square feet of living space. Home buyers enjoy direct lake views from the home’s living area and private outdoor patio, as well as impeccably designed interior spaces.

“The Spinnaker homes are perfect for first-time home buyers and also vacation home buyers who want to be right on the lake,” said Cory Atkins, a principal of the award-winning Atkins Companies, which is developing Mariner’s Pointe and retained Coldwell Banker New Homes to market and sell the community. “We designed them so that homeowners could step right out onto their terrace and feel the gentle breeze of the lake and hear the lapping of the water. It’s a feeling that’s hard to describe and a lifestyle that is tough to beat, all at a price point that is well within reach of most home buyers.”

Mariner’s Pointe is equal parts tranquil lake home and private waterfront resort. The community opened last summer and now all of the amenities have been completed and installed. All homes come with a private, deeded boat slip on the community’s permanent boat dock. The dock, attached to steel pilings, features a bubbler system for winter dock protection and includes direct access to electrical hookups and hose bibs. The slips are generously sized and can accommodate a wide variety of watercraft.

Residents at Mariner’s Pointe also enjoy a covered lakefront pavilion and sundeck that offer spectacular views, and a multi-tiered lakefront gathering area with gas fire pit, gas grills, a paver sundeck and plenty of lounge seating for residents to relax, enjoy an outdoor meal and socialize with their neighbors. Launching a kayak, canoe, or paddleboard from the 455 feet of private shoreline at Mariner’s Pointe is incredibly easy, and residents have access to a secure enclosed storage area for storing all watersports equipment.

Mariner’s Pointe is a paradise for lake lovers, and exploring the area from the water provides a unique perspective. Whether it is from the helm of a boat, behind a cast fishing line or from a self-propelled canoe, kayak or paddleboard, there is a lot to see. Hidden coves, islands, waterfront mansions, and dockside restaurants with lakefront dining are just some of the destinations available across the lake’s 45 miles of shoreline.

All homes in the community are well-appointed with Bargello wide plank flooring, lush carpeting, nine-foot ceiling heights, and gourmet kitchens with custom wood cabinetry, stainless steel appliances, and quartz countertops.  Lavish baths are adorned with porcelain tile flooring, warm wood vanities with stone or quartz countertops, and dual vanity sinks in the owner’s suite.

“You won’t find high-quality, brand new townhomes like this anywhere else on Lake Hopatcong,” Mr. Atkins said. “Mariner’s Pointe is the first new-construction community to open on the lake in decades. This is a unique opportunity to enjoy all of the luxury and comfort of a new-construction townhome in a natural setting that is absolutely beautiful.”

To sweeten the deal for home buyers, special builder’s incentives on express delivery homes are currently available for a limited time. For details, contact the sales office at 201-779-7740.

Lake Hopatcong stretches approximately nine miles across and has nearly 50 miles of shoreline to explore. Attractions such as the Lake Hopatcong Yacht Club, Garden State Yacht Club, Lake Hopatcong Golf Club, Lake Hopatcong Cruises, and waterfront restaurants such as Stone Water, Alice’s, The Windlass, Pavinci Grill and Patrick’s Pub are all just a few minutes away from Mariner’s Pointe by car or boat.

More than a dozen golf courses are within a 30-minute drive of Mariner’s Pointe. Popular ski slopes in the Poconos and in Sussex County offer winter recreation, and nearby Stokes State Forest offers hiking, camping, fishing and cross country skiing. Mount Airy Casino Resort is also less than an hour away. The Mount Arlington Bus and Rail Transportation Hub and Lake Hopatcong train station are just a few minutes from Mariner’s Pointe, offering service to midtown Manhattan on both NJ Transit’s Montclair-Boonton line and the Morristown Line. The entrance to Route 80 is less than a five-minute drive away.

The Mariner’s Pointe onsite sales office is located at 16 Lawrie Avenue, Hopatcong, NJ and is open Saturday and Sunday from 11 A.M to 4 P.M., or by appointment. Several model homes are available to tour. To schedule a private appointment, call Patrick “Ted” Hanley at 201-779-7740. For more information, visit www.marinerspointenj.com/ROPK

Retro Review: Johnny Got His Gun by Dalton Trumbo

Retro Review: Johnny Got His Gun by Dalton Trumbo (Citadel Press, 1970)

How does a reviewer do justice to a book called “the great American novel”? I first read Johnny Got His Gun during the Viet Nam war, when young people, nationwide, were protesting fighting in a war that was a senseless waste of life; a war in which the United States had no business participating.

The Truth About My Reading

I didn't get my Composition and Literature teacher at Montclair State College at all. A crusty old man with a dour disposition, Mr. Smith always seemed angry and rude. He appropriately intimidated freshmen, even me, an English major, who found this common core course beneath my dignity. Frankly, as a graduate of Highland Park High School, and a survivor of Mrs.
