ROSELLE/ROSELLE PARK, NJ - Weather-related power problems caused power outages for many customers of JCP&L and PSG&E in New Jersey on Friday morning. JCP&L had the larger total number of outages.

There were no outages in Roselle, but Roselle Park did have several reported.

In Union County, 765 of the 27,288 customers were without power.  In Union County, there were fewer than five outages in Springfield where JCP&L has a customer base of 7,453.  Berkeley Heights was the Union County town hit hardest with 764 or 4,904 customers without power.

According to the PSG&E website, there were many outages in Union County.  Towns most affected appear to be Cranford, Scotch Plains and Mountainside with a combined number of customer affected exceeding 2,500.

The largest number of JCP&L outages were in Morris County and Sussex County.  Morris had 6,127 customers out of 200,385 without power and Sussex had 4,070 out of 57,505 without power.  Mount Olive in Morris had the most outages with 2,612 out of 12,1782 customers.  In Sussex, the most outages were in Stanhope Borough with 1,515 out of 1,684 without power and Byram Township with 1,112 of 3,533 without power.

JCP&L serves 1,112,996 customers in NJ.  As of 10:10 a.m. this morning 12,408 were affected by a power outage according to the website.

Cranford Township experienced a widespread power outage on Friday morning.

According to Lieutenant Ed Davenport of the CPD, partial power outages were a problem countywide.
