Roselle Business Makes “Lemonade Out of Lemons” by Holding Contest After Car Crashes Into Building

Roselle Business Makes “Lemonade Out of Lemons” by Holding Contest After Car Crashes Into Building. Credits: Tom Bennett

ROSELLE, NJ - A local Roselle business is making the best of a bad situation after a car crashed through their front door earlier this month, by holding a contest for residents, while work continues to repair their building.

Previously it was reported that during three separate incidents of a car striking a building in a 12hour period, that the 7 Eleven on East 1st Ave. had received damage. While the accident was in the same parking lot, it was in actuality, next door at the Roselle Laundromat where the car smashed through the glass doors.

Tom Bennett the owner of Roselle Laundromat said, “while I had to spend a lot of time working through the challenges of the rebuild and speaking often with insurance companies, contractors, and the landlord, I was still able to stay open for business to serve our customers.”

Bennet went on to say, “I decided I was going to make the best of an unfortunate situation. While the laundromat was able to remain open for business, I felt that we needed a break and a laugh, so I decided to sponsor a “Caption this Photo” contest and let the community post their funniest caption to our photo that we posted on our Facebook Page.”

According to Bennett, here is how the contest works.

Look at the photo posted. Then write a funny, witty, or creative caption for it. You, your friends, the Roselle community, and our customers will take a look and like your comment. The top five captions with the most “likes” will be in the running to win.

In Cold Blood by Truman Capote

In Cold Blood by Truman Capote (Random House, 1965)

In Cold Blood is, quite simply, the grand-daddy of true crime writing, dubbed by Capote, himself, as the first non-fiction novel (although Norman Mailer argued the point when he published The Executioner's Song in 1979.) The conditions under which I read In Cold Blood for the first time were pretty weird, which was another ...
