ROSELLE, NJ - The community came out one day early on Thursday evening for an early start to celebrate Cinco de Mayo.
Lots of live live entertainment filled the auditorium at Abraham Clark H.S. as the fiesta came alive with performances by a Mariachi group and many different dancers from different groups all dressed in authentic attire. Refreshments were also provided.
According to Google, Cinco de Mayo is a celebration of the Mexican army's 1862 victory over France at the Battle of Puebla during the Franco-Mexican War (1861-1867). The holiday is really no big deal in Mexico. However in America, Cinco de Mayo is a celebration bringing in crowds of people.
The event was hosted by Mayor Christine Dansereau, the Roselle Borough Council and the Roselle Office of Hispanic-Latino Affairs.
A few highlights of the event can be seen in the video below.
