ROSELLE, NJ - Randy Sandifer, a 19-year resident and Councilman of the Roselle's Third Ward, unexpectedly passed away on Friday May 16, 2014.
Mayor Jamel C. Holley gave a statement today to honor Mr. Sandifer and to help comfort his community.
“Roselle lost an amazing leader, public servant and friend as Councilman Randy Sandifer passed away late Friday evening. Randy was a truly wonderful person -- he was a loving husband to Arlene, a father of four women, served as a Jersey City Police Detective for almost 25 years and contributed greatly to the revitalization of Roselle as a Councilman. Beyond that, anyone who knew Randy knew him as a friend and a fun loving person who was a joy to be around. Randy's contributions made a impact on our community to its core and we will all miss Randy Sandifer greatly. Randy will always be remembered for who he was -- a devoted family man, a lover of life, a man of God and a true leader who helped bring about Roselle's new renaissance. This is a very difficult time for all of us as we grieve for our fallen friend and brother and we need to come together to comfort each other and make sure we keep moving our community forward, as Randy would surely want. Rest in Peace Randy Sandifer.”
The People of Roselle will be ever grateful for the contributions Mr. Sandifer made to his community.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 21, at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Jersey City, 400 Arlington Avenue. The viewing is from 9-11am with funeral services after.
Roselle Borough Hall will also be closed all day on Wednesday in Honor of Mr. Sandifer.
