ROSELLE, NJ - After 25 years of service, Roselle is about to retire Engine 1, a 1,000 gallon per min. (GPM) unit that has been in service since 1991. It’s replacement will be a new 1,500 GPM truck made by Spartan.
The new Engine 1, was made possible by a Capitol Improvement Project that was approved in 2015. According to Fire Chief Paul Mucha, “It takes about a year to build because the unit was custom built to exact specifications needed by the department. Our guys had direct input as to what was needed on the truck.”
“I also want to give special thanks to the Mayor and Council for supporting public safety for the betterment of the community,” said Mucha.
The entire department is currently training on the unit before it can be put into service. Chief Mucha expects the unit to be in service in the next couple of weeks.
