ROSELLE, NJ - Veteran fire fighter David Guadiane was welcomed back today for his first shift after being off since last October battling cancer. A statement on Roselle Fire Chief Paul Mucha’s Facebook page today read as follows.
“It is with great pleasure to welcome back FF Dave Guadiane on his first shift back with the Roselle Fire Department. Dave has been out since last October battling cancer and now is in full remission. We would like to thank all those that have helped Dave either financially, in support or in prayer. Best of luck to you Dave!!!”
“After working in EMS, it is very humbling to have been on the other side,” said Guadiane. “It also give you a new perspective on life and what is really important.”
Guadiane was also recognized this past year by the Roselle Borough Council and was presented with a check from a casino bus trip fundraiser created by residents Beverly Bullock and Cynthia Johnson. Gauadiane was also given a financial award by Roselle 24/7 and their Roselle Walks for Cancer initiative.
What is next for this father for this father of two young sons? Guadiane is thinking about getting involved in some cancer runs or possibly volunteering in a children's cancer center.
