Roselle Holds Reorganization Meeting for 2018 and Welcomes Two New Councilwomen

ROSELLE/ROSELLE PARK, NJ - It was standing room only as residents and political dignitaries came out to the Borough of Roselle reorganization meeting on Wednesday night to watch two new councilwomen take their oath of office. 

The meeting started off with the invocation by Pastor Side Lawore form the Agape House of Worship, followed by a violin performance by Caitlin Majewski. Board of Education member Angela Wimbush sung to the crowd followed by a poetry reading by Ortivia Jackson.

Then came the moment that many residents came to see, as Denise Wilkerson (First Ward)  and Cynthia Johnson (Third Ward) took the oath of office to serve as Councilwomen for the Borough of Roselle.

Oath of Office was administered for Wilkerson by Mayor Christine Dansereau and the Oath of Office for Johnson was administered by Mayor Larry Dobbins, the brother of Johnson. 

Councilman-at-Large Reginald Atkins was voted in as the Council President for 2018 and the oath was given by Assemblyman Jamel Holley. 

The committees for 2018 were not named at this meeting. Council President Atkins asked the new council members to meet with him for their input on committees they might want to oversee. They will be announced at a later date. The benediction was given by Minister Cynthia Jeter-Clements.

Female Boxer Dog Found in the Chandler Ave. Area of Roselle

ROSELLE, NJ - A female boxer was found on East 7th Ave. near Chandler Ave. and given to police on Feb. 16. The dog was later transported to the Newark Humane Society, where it will be on hold for the owner to claim her.

Officials from the Humane Society say that the dog is of senior age and very sweet. If the owner does not claim her, she will be available for adoption on Feb.
