LINDEN, NJ - A motor vehicle accident in Linden claimed the life of a Roselle man late Sunday evening.

At approximately 11:56 p.m. Linden Police units responded to the scene of a serious auto-pedestrian crash on the 400 block of Raritan Rd.

Initial reports indicate that a 2003 Chrysler Minivan was traveling east when it fatally collided with a man in the roadway.

Eric Mathis, 56, was treated on scene by Linden Fire Department personnel and transported to Trinitas Regional Medical Center in Elizabeth where he was later pronounced deceased, said authorities.

The driver, a 72-year-old man from Clark, was not injured in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation by the Linden Police Department Traffic Bureau.
