Roselle Park Christmas and Holiday Lighting Contest Reaches for the Stars Credits: ABC TV

ROSELLE PARK, NJ - The RP Christmas and Holiday Lighting Contest is heading for the stars! ABC’s "The Great Christmas Light Fight" casting producer John Barra, contacted the "Sparkle Squad " a group of residents who work together to put on the event, searching for the really elaborate or crazy houses decorated for the season in Roselle Park.  “We are extremely excited and honored with this national attention," said RP contest co-founder, Jayme Lynn Negron.

Barra, who is also a 1988 RPHS graduate and a former resident is collaborating with the event sponsor Roselle Park 24/7, to encourage nominees to enter the Roselle Park Christmas and Holiday Lighting Contest and submit their application for the Season 7 show for 2018.

Barra noted, "I love having a job in Hollywood that I love and have the esteemed honor to directly connect to the town I was raised, educated and thrived in. ABC is very excited to continue the holiday tradition of The Great Christmas Light Fight and as a casting producer would love to have the opportunity to pitch a great Roselle Park display to the executives in 2018"

"Who knows, maybe a Roselle Park family will stand next to judges Carter Oosterhouse and Taniya Nayak for Season 7 of The Great Christmas Light Fight and win the $50,000 grand prize," said RP contest co-founder Joe DeIorio.

The idea for the Christmas and Holiday Lighting contest was co-created in 2015 by Jayme Lynn Negron and Joe DeIorio from a simple idea to bring up the community spirit during the holiday season.  Through the efforts of the Sparkle Squad, volunteers and sponsors, the program has been recognized statewide as one of the most festive in the State of New Jersey.
