ROSELLE PARK, NJ - The Roselle Park Council began their meeting last Thursday night by honoring the Roselle Park High School bowling team and Climax Brewing Company for their accomplishments.
The High Schools bowling team recently took home first place in Group One division in the state of New Jersey. The council presented the coaches and each student with honorary certificates for their achievements.
According to Vincent Fucci, the Roselle Park High School bowling team’s head coach, the team had taken second place in the region, going up against all Group One schools in Essex, Sussex, and Union County. Roselle Catholic High School took first place in the region.
The team then competed against the top two winners of every Group One school in the state. Roselle Park High School took first place in Group One for the state of New Jersey.
They later went on to play the other group winners, where they were defeated by Sayreville, a Group Four team, who won the state championship.
“I’m very proud of my team,” Fucci stated. “Most of my starters are Juniors, so I’m looking forward to what next year can bring.”
Councilman Joseph Petrosky and Mayor Carl Hokanson presented Coach Fucci, Assistant Coach Melissa Saba, and the entire bowling team with honorary certificates on behalf of the town of Roselle Park.
Also recognized with an honorary certificate last night was Dave Hoffmann, owner of the Climax Brewing Company, a micro brewery that produces award-winning traditional beer and has been a part of Roselle Park for the past twenty years.
According to Hoffmann, the Climax Brewing Company is the oldest micro brewery in the state of New Jersey.
“First and oldest micro brewery, right here in Roselle Park,” Mayor Hokanson announced.
Councilman Thos Shipley and Mayor Hokanson presented Hoffman with an honorary certificate for his fine work and celebrating twenty years of business.
