ROSELLE PARK, NJ - Heidi Louise Rhodes, born on January 13, 2016, was awarded a certificate during Thursday night’s borough meeting for being the first newborn resident in Roselle Park for 2016.

“It’s definitely an honor,” said Christopher Leigh Rhodes Sr., Heidi’s father. “It’s awesome,” he said.

“I second my husband” said Melissa Rhodes, Heidi’s mother. “It’s quite an honor.”

A gift basket was presented to family during the meeting by first ward councilman Eugene Meola, and Mayor Carl Hokanson. “Thank you for doing your part,” said Meola, “If you time it right, you may get 2017.” 

Meola added, that the collection for next year’s gift basket will start much later. “We’ll be working on 2017 in maybe September,” he said.

In other business, it was mentioned that Roselle Park recently celebrated its 115th birthday on March 20. 

An ordinance was passed after its second reading, in a vote of 4-2, to edit the establishment of the Roselle Park Arts Committee.  

The capital budget meeting is scheduled for March 31, 2016 at 6:30 p.m. 

The next regular scheduled council meeting is scheduled for April 7, 2016.
