ROSELLE PARK NJ - Roselle Park Sustainable Jersey and Clean Communities are partnering to kick off a reusable bag campaign with the screening of the award-winning documentary Bag It on Tuesday, August 7, from 7-8 p.m. at the Casano Community Center located at 314 Chestnut Street. Local residents and businesses will have the opportunity to take a pledge to forgo disposable bags, as well as receive a complimentary reusable and washable eco-bag. This event is free and open to the public.
Bag It follows Jeb Berrier, an everyday man, as he explores our dependence on plastic bags and its disastrous impact on the environment. In addition, Roselle Park’s Plastic Bag Monster will be on hand to serve as the “Average American” who consumes 500 plastic bags each year, the vast majority of which ends up in landfills or as part of the eight million tons on plastic that enters the oceans annually.
In addition to this event, Roselle Park’s Green Team will also be holding an educational table on backyard composting at Michael J. Mauri Park, located at the corner of Chestnut Street and Grant Avenue from 5-8 p.m.
