ROSELLE PARK, NJ - Roselle Park parents have until Friday to fill out the district’s survey asking whether or not they will be sending their child to school in September.

Following the collection of survey results the district will be able to plan how to schedule in person classes. School days will only be half in person so no meals will be served; the district will provide grab and go meals. On days that are all virtual, meals can be picked up outside the high school cafeteria from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

In the district's plan for in person learning, schools will be at half capacity each day. Students' desks will be placed six-feet apart at all times with duct tape markers on the floors to remind children to keep their distance. Each school building will be provided with hand sanitizer (at least 60% alcohol) and teachers will be provided with PPE, including face masks and shields. Students and staff will also get educated on proper and regular hand washing.

The district also plans to train teachers how to recognize signs and symptoms of COVID-19. Teachers will also be expected to take their temperature before entering a classroom. Daily contact-less temperature checks will be taken before students enter a school building or the bus. Any child with a temperature over 100.4 will not be allowed to enter.

Should a person in the district test positive for COVID-19 the district will begin the process of notifying those who have been in close contact with that individual. The school nurse or another individual will be completing the free contact tracing course through Johns Hopkins University.

For families who would like to select remote learning for their children, a request must be submitted to the district at least two weeks before the start of the school year. In accordance with the N.J. Dept. of Education guidelines, fully virtual instruction will be accessible to any family that chooses it.

The full reopening schedule will not be available until the district has collected all of the surveys.
