ROSELLE PARK, NJ - November 6, 2017, at 11:24 pm, Ptl. William Hannon observed a vehicle with no front license plate, and several lights out. A motor vehicle stop was initiated in the area of Chestnut Street & Grant Avenue.

While speaking to the driver, identified as Olajuwon Mcrae, 22 from Hillside, a strong odor of marijuana was detected.  Ptl. Kyle Snyder had arrived on the scene as a backup officer.  While assisting Ptl. Hannon, Ptl. Snyder observed Mcrae attempt to hide suspected marijuana in the glove compartment box.  As Ptl. Snyder attempted to retrieve the marijuana the Mcrae attempted to lock the glove compartment box.  Mcrae then physically attempted to block Ptl. Snyder from retrieving the suspected marijuana.  As officers attempted to remove Mcrae, Mcrae refused to exit the vehicle and Mcrae then bit Ptl. Snyder on the hand.

Mcrae was ultimately arrested and charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, (CDS). Mcrae was found to be in possession of several bags of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.  Mcrae was also charged with 3rd. degree aggravated assault, and 3rd. degree resisting arrest.

Mcrae was issued motor vehicle summonses for CDS in a motor vehicle, no front license plate, failure to maintain lamps, and several other violations. Mcrae was ultimately released on a summons with a superior court date.
