ROSELLE PARK, NJ - A Roselle Park woman was rescued from an early morning fire by two men who happened to be in the area, smelled smoke and went into action to save her.
The fire on the 500 block of Oak Street that broke out sometime after midnight appears to have started on the second floor of the house.
Roselle Park Mayor Carl Hokanson, who was at the scene, said that he thought the two men were Elizabeth firemen. “The guys said that they smelled smoke and ran to save her,” said Hokanson. “They are real heroes.”
The identities of the men were not known at that time. Fire companies from Roselle Park, Kenilworth, Mountainside, Clark and Scotch Plains were at the scene along with workers from PSE&G.
TAPinto Roselle Park will update this story as more details including the names of the men who rescued the woman are released.
