ROSELLE, NJ - Roselle Mayor Jamel C. Holley along with the Borough Council and the Roselle Office of Service and Engagement (R.O.S.E.) invite the community to attend the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service event.
“Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day is a time to remember and reflect on the legacy of an incredible man who helped our society progress to a place where we all have a greater opportunity to excel. The amazing accomplishments of Dr. King and his fellow activists paved the way for a more open and just society,” Holley said. “I firmly believe that without his contributions, African American leaders like myself would not be serving our communities the way we do now.”
The annual Day of Service will have a Raising of the MLK Flag on Monday, Jan. 19 at 10 a.m. at Borough Hall located at 210 Chestnut St.
As a special treat this year, Roselle Senior Citizens are invited to join in at Linden's AMC movie theater to view the hit movie "Selma" which examines Dr. King's leadership and activism in the creation and passage of the Voting Rights Act.
