ROSELLE, NJ - The Roselle Track Team were very successful at the Penn Relays this past weekend. The national event had teams and individuals competing from all over the country and abroad.
The Roselle team took first place in their heat and was honored with the gold and the coveted Penn Relay Wheel (Plaque) to display in their school.
The 4x400 meter relay team of Senior, Backley Jean, Senior Josh Fitts, Junior Marven's Lormejuste, and Junior Taylor Porter competed and ran their fastest time of the season so far.
Jean led of off the relay with a season PR of 50 as he gave his team a 10 meter lead over the field. Fitts held on to the lead and handed off to Lormejuste who cruised around the track handing off to Porter; the field has closed, Roselle is battling for position and nerves are high. Porter was passed on the turn but he held on and fought to the finish clenching the win at the line to get the gold.
In the 4x100, the boys ran a personal record for this season with a time of 43.91 taking third in their heat.
Both boys and girls team will be competing at the Union County Relay Championships this Thursday and Friday in Westfield.
