ROSELLE, NJ - The Roselle/Roselle Park Rotary has been very involved with the “Camp Letico" rehabilitation project and while the work continues, help in the way of volunteers and supplies is badly needed to finish the project.
It is not highly known that there is a 61 year-old Girl Scout Camp in Roselle, and that it is still in use after all of these years. Nestled in a wooded area next to Morses Creek near Independence Drive, the camp is a stones throw from Roselle Catholic High School and the Roselle Shopping Center. Camp Letico is home to the Roselle Girl Scouts and the facility is used extensively for summer outdoor and indoor activities.
The reason this facility its still there, is due to the help of the Rotary Club of Roselle /Roselle Park which helped to establish the camp in 1953 and has helped with its upkeep ever since.
This past weekend, members Milt Woodruff and Robert Zeglarski Sr. along with Rosa Montoya (Lila's mom), Lila Montoya, Keyanna Jones, and others worked on some demolition so that next week the sheet rock and painting can start.
The renovation is taking a long time due to getting the needed materials and the help of everyone to join in. If you would like to join in next Saturday or any other times, or would like to donate to the project, contact them via their website at www.roselle-roselleparkrotary.org.
