ROSELLE PARK, NJ - Friends and family of a couple helped pull off a surprise marriage proposal on Saturday.
During a Paint and Pour class at the gallery, Karan Shah, a resident physician at Vanderbilt Hospital in Tennessee, brought his girlfriend Shweta Desai in to the class last. She had been to a prior paint and pour and loved it, and he thought it would be a nice “date” during his weekend home and with all their friends.
They all painted a beach scene with artist Gina Parducci-Cesaro. The plan was to go outside to take the traditional group photo at the end of the class. The instructor Gina detained Desai by helping her with her painting.
Everyone else assembled outside and held up letter signs that spelled out "Will You Marry Me?" Desai came out to pose with everyone for the group picture, where she was then led to the front of the group to see the question.
Shah then got down on one knee and proposed, and Desai said yes.
Afterwards everyone went back inside the gallery to celebrate with champagne and treats.

We were nervous wrecks by the time this morning rolled around, but it all went smoothly and Karan and Shweta make an amazing couple. With all that’s happening in the world, this lovely life-affirming event was especially welcome today.”
