ROSELLE, NJ - There has been some confusion regarding what to do when garbage pick up falls on a Holiday. Place the trash at the curb or wait?
TAPinto discussed the issue with the Department of Public Works (DPW) Staff and Mayor Dansereau to clarify the issue. The answer is WAIT!
The “Official Rule” is that if your trash day falls on a holiday, DO NOT put your trash out for the following day! Your next pick up will be on your next regular scheduled day!
It was explained that when Roselle’s DPW, took over the trash pick up from the previous contractor and brought it “in house”, the routine changed and many households may have missed the notice that said the holiday pick up schedule had been changed.
Because the last few holidays fell on a Monday, Mayor Dansereau said, “Our DPW staff worked hard to accommodate the two wards that did not have trash pick up and serviced those areas as best as possible.”
Moving forward DPW staff asks that EVERY HOUSEHOLD (whether it is a Monday or even another day of the week), only put out trash on your next scheduled day!
