ROSELLE PARK, NJ - Local authors Roger and Mariann Brenner along with Enzo the dog, were at the Roselle Park Veterans Memorial Library on Thursday evening for a book signing of The Secret Life of a Police Dog.

In an exclusive interview for TAPinto Roselle Park, Councilman-at-Large Joe DeIorio interviewed Mariann and Enzo. While Enzo didn’t have to much to say, Mariann talked about how the idea came about to write the book and why they chose to have the story told through the eyes of a dog.

Mariann, a retired K9 Police officer brings twenty-five years of knowledge and experience in law enforcement to every story.

Roger has appeared on hundreds of tv shows and movies, many times as a Police officer or as a First Responder, adding the entertainment value to each chapter. The dynamic between this married power couple blends their stories together with passion and spirit.

"My wife is a retired k9 police officer and the book is based on her law enforcement experiences,” said Rodger. “We eat breakfast together every morning. Sometimes she would tell me an interesting story, sometimes I would ask her about a specific police situation. Sometimes she liked to tell me, sometimes she didn't. When she didn’t, that usually ended up being a chapter with lots of cursing."

"All the stories in the book are narrated by a k9 police dog, who occasionally uses some explicit language,” said Mariann. “Since it's cop stories, of course, there is a little cursing. Hey, what sounds better "that party was great" or "That Party Was F ing Great". We explain why cops curse so much in more detail in the upcoming second book in the series. I just don't like that Roger made the dog curse so much. My dog was calm and would never have cursed. He was an all-around good boy.”

The interview can be viewed below.

The Secret Life of a Police Dog is available as an ebook or paperback, both on sale now on Amazon and currently has a five-star rating for its reviews.

"If you get it, please leave a review. But most of all, enjoy the book,” Mariann added.
