ELIZABETH, NJ - Trinitas Regional Medical Center received a $3,719,000 grant from the Department of Health and Human Services, Center for Mental Health Services to support their behavioral health and psychiatry program, which has grown into one of the largest hospital-based mental health centers in New Jersey over the past 50 years.
The purpose of this grant is to award funds to exceptional organizations offering mental health services so they can continue to bring high-quality services to their communities.
These federal funds will be used to help expand and increase operations of the Certified Community Behavioral Health Center (CCBHC) at Trinitas. The CCBHC model alleviates decades-old challenges that have led to a crisis in providing access to mental health and addiction care.
This funding will benefit TRAC (Transitions Requiring Active Coordination), a program designed identify adult Union County residents who have had an acute psychiatric crisis and are in need of community services, including psychiatric, medical, and substance use, as well as the range of social determinant issues that complicate community stability, housing, social services, legal, Medicaid, transportation, etc.
“The program ensures that these individuals in need receive fully integrated care on an ongoing basis to help stabilize them in the community and reduce hospitalizations,” said James McCreath, Ph.D., Vice President Behavioral Health & Psychiatry at Trinitas.
The program, set to launch in March, will operate seven days a week, providing outreach to community sites as needed.
