UNION COUNTY, NJ - The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for all of Union County and surrounding areas until 10p.m. this first day of July until 10p.m.
The main threat is for damaging winds with a small chance for hail and isolated tornados possible.
According to the Nation Weather service alert, a tornado watch is issued when weather conditions are favorable for the development of severe thunderstorms that are capable of producing tornadoes. A tornado watch therefore implies that it is also a severe thunderstorm watch.
