ROSELLE PARK, NJ - After being stopped for distracted driving and a cell phone violation, police say, Frances Guzman, age 51 from Roselle Park drove away from police resulting in a two town chase.
According Roselle Park Police, Guzman was stopped by Det. Sgt. Dominick Frino for driving and using her cell phone while operating a 2007 Honda, traveling eastbound on the 600 block of W. Westfield Ave. and Locust St. on Saturday morning.
Police say, after being stopped for several minutes, during the course of the investigation, Guzman drove off and police gave chase into Roselle onto 1st Ave. Guzman struck the officers vehicle on 1st Ave. at Walnut St. and continued toward Linden Rd. where the pursuit led back into Roselle Park.
The pursuit ended as Guzman stopped in front of her residence on the 100 block of Bender Ave. where she bailed out of the vehicle on foot and was quickly apprehended by Det. Sgt. Frino, Lt. Manuel Jimenez and Ptl. Mitchell White.
Guzman was found to be in possession of a controlled dangerous substance, specifically heroin.
Guzman was issued numerous motor vehicle summonses and formally charged with Eluding 2nd degree, resisting arrest 3rd degree and possession of c.d.s 3rd degree. She was later released on her own recognizance with a Union County Superior Court date of April 24th.
