Are You Experienced? The Making of Jimi Hendrix

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame describes Jimi Hendrix as “arguably the greatest instrumentalist in the history of rock music.”  Hendrix expanded the range and vocabulary of the electric guitar into areas no musician had ever ventured before.  Travel with Sixties Rock Historian Vinnie Bruno along Jimi’s road to superstardom: beginning with his early days as a band member on the Chitlin' Circuit, to the launch of the Jimi Hendrix Experience in London, to his electrifying performances at Monterey Pop Festival and Woodstock, and to his final recordings at Electric Lady Studio. This program is sponsored by the Friends of the Cranford Public Library.

Vinnie Bruno is a Beatles Scholar and Sixties Rock Historian.  He recently retired as Director of First Year Programs at LaGuardia Community College (City University of New York). He holds an MPA from Baruch College and as an adjunct professor for 25 years he taught courses in numerous disciplines including Humanities, Business and Mathematics. As a Sixties Rock Historian, he offers programs on extraordinary innovative artists who defined an era. Their creative musical landscapes captivated a generation, and their influence in popular culture still endures five decades later. Learn more about our speaker at vinniebeatles.com.
