Black History Presentation: 761st Tank Battalion

"Hobby Historian" Pete Kessel, born and raised in Elizabeth, will discuss the experiences of the 761st Tank Battalion battling racism at home and the Nazis in World War II. The 761st was the first all-Black armored unit to fight in a war involving the United States. Notably, pioneering baseball great Jackie Robinson served as an officer of the unit. Mr. Kessel will discuss his research and special relationship with former members of the 761st and their descendants.
