Sixth Annual Event to Benefit Bernice’s Place’s to be held in October

The Transportation, Logistics and Distribution industry is hosting its sixth annual event on October 4, from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. at Embassy Suites Newark Airport, 95 International Blvd. in Elizabeth.

Proceeds to benefit Bernice’s Place, an after-school and summer program for homeless and near homeless children.

Bernice’s Place’s, a program of the Elizabeth Coalition to House the Homeless, is the only program in New Jersey dedicated to helping vulnerable kids.

The homeless population continues to grow at an alarming rate as proposed budget cuts threaten to make a bad situation so much worse, so support for these programs is more important than ever.

Keynote speakers at the event will be John Nardi, President of New York Shipping Association.

Tickets are $75 and ad sponsorships are available. To make an online sponsorship or ticket purchase by credit card, please visit www.theelizabethcoalition.org.

You can also contact Cristina Pinzon at 908-447-3964 or via email at cpinzon@theelizabethcoalition.org for more information on this event or to become a sponsor.

In 1996, a shooting spree in a gift shop in Tasmania left 35 people dead—the most deadly mass shooting in the country’s history. In the immediate aftermath, ...

LaZare: Bringing Passion to Our Politics

October 19, 2017

Time was, New Jersey residents could at least count on their elected representatives to be good stewards of their funds they paid in taxes:  to maintain their roads, their obligations, and their air and water.  Those times are long gone.  For close to three decades, administrations of all political stripes have hedged here, and borrowed there, and put the state on a depressing ...
