ROSELLE, NJ - That’s right, the moment that many have been waiting for has finally arrived, Wawa in Roselle is open for business!

The grand opening of Wawa’s newest store located at 1206 Rivington St. in Roselle had many people arriving early on Thursday, morning to get their hands on that FREE cup of morning coffee and to take a look around the place.

Assemblyman Jamel Holley, Roselle Mayor Christine Dansereau, Council Members, Wawa Officials, Police, Fire, Clergy, ACHS High School Marching Band, and of course the residents, all on hand to show support for Roselle’s newest business.

Wawa officials also presented checks from The Wawa Foundation to Eden Autism Services and to the Abraham Clark High Schools’s Project Graduation.

The Ribbon cutting ceremony can be viewed below.

The Abraham Clark H.S. Marching Band entertained the very large crowd that gathered outside along with the Wawa Goose who was on hand to pose for photos. Shirts were given out to the first 100 customers, and did we mention that coffee was FREE all day long?

Once again there was another “Battle of the Badges” on the agenda, for our Bravest vs our Finest, but this time the battle was not on a ball field, their field was in front of the store, and the name of game was sandwiches!

That’s right, the Roselle Police took on the guys at the Fire Department in a hoagie-building contest. "Hoagies for Heroes” is a battle of will, bravery, and skill of sandwich building. During the event, the police and firemen went head to head to see which team could build the most hoagies, “the Wawa Way” in three minutes.

At stake, yes, another coveted trophy. It was fast and furious as each team worked to make as many sandwiches as possible, and in the end, drum roll please…. it was Roselle Fire smoking the guys from Roselle PD!

With these guys, a good battle of the badges isn’t complete without a little smack talk, and maybe it was the FREE Coffee, but they were all in rare form today.

Video of the band and the PD FD antics can be viewed below.

If you were at the event, you can share your photos on social media with #WelcomeWawa for a chance to win exclusive Wawa swag.
