ROSELLE, NJ - Students received a great surprise as they walked into  Abraham Clark High School on Wednesday morning. It is no secret that Principal Rashon Mickens celebrates the first day of school by personally welcoming every student, and that he is always dressed in cap and gown.  However, on this rainy morning no-one expected the huge crowd that showed up!

After entering the doors of the school the students were ushered into the auditorium for a welcome back assembly. School Board President Candi Young and School Superintendent Dr. Richard Corbett spoke to the students to get them excited as they start the new school year.

After some brief remarks, the students met in the hallway with dignitaries from all over the area that included, school board members, school officials, teaching staff, library officials, members of the Roselle Police Dept., Mayor Dansereau, Council members, Recreation Director Donald Shaw, Assemblyman Jamel Holley and many members of the community.

Each student received a welcome from the people in what seemed like an endless line.

We captured the opening remarks from Ms. Young and Dr. Corbett, along with the rest of the event and it can be seen in the video below.

Prayers the Devil Answers by Sharyn McCrumb

Prayers the Devil Answers by Sharyn McCrumb (Altria, 2015)

Years later, after the tragedy, someone remembered the Dumb Supper and what had happened there. That was the cause of it, they said, because the ritual wasn't a game after all. It really was magic, but magic has rules, and she broke them. Even when they call it a 'senseless tragedy,' people always try to find a ...
