ROSELLE, PARK, NJ - Four wrestlers and three art students were recognized for their recent accomplishments during this month's Roselle Park Board of Education Meeting.
Students Mark Montgomery, Gabe Leo, Eddie Hummel, and Elvin Guerrero were recognized for becoming NJSIAA State Wrestling Qualifiers.
Art students Gabriella Muscaritolo was recognized for creating the sports hall mural while Franchesca Martinez and Isis Gonzalez were recognized for Youth Art Month at the state level, and will be traveling to Trenton.
In other business, one school board member explained that the “Naviance” system is being implemented across the school. According to Naviance’s website, “Naviance is a comprehensive college and career readiness solution that helps districts and schools align student strengths and interests to postsecondary goals, improving student outcomes and connecting learning to life.”
She also clarified that April is Autism Awareness month and the school has been running fundraisers to raise money. Specifically, the school has also been having “Zumba Night,” where anyone is welcome to come and dance.
The meeting lasted approximately 35 minutes. Board Member Chad Hemenway noted after the meeting, “The meetings recently have been rather quick. They are not all like that. They usually get a little bit more contentious if there is an item on the agenda that really sparks some interest in the public… We are a small district, they will come out if there is something on their minds.”
