ROSELLE PARK, NJ – The wrestling teams at the high school and the middle school had their moment Tuesday when they were recognized by the Board of Education for major accomplishments this season. 

The Middle School Wrestling Team had an undefeated 2017-18 season with a 10-0 score, while the High School Panthers recorded the school’s 1,000th match career win. The high school wrestling program’s first ever win dates to 1935. 

The Panthers also were honored as UCC Conference Champions, North II Group 1 State Section Champions.

The following Middle School wrestlers were recognized by the Members of the Board of Education for their undefeated (10-0) 2017-2018 season: 

Julian Colon, Anthony Zois, Mike Forstenhausler, Justin Llizo, Eric Lieberman, John Ranieri, Mayson Harms, Matt Griffin, Angel Mejia, Brandon Scott, Tom Jaskula, Jason Weaver, Pranay Francis, Chris Ley, Alex Ley, Mo Exantus, Tyler Monaco, John Amato, Tyler Signorello, Xavier Padilla, Charlie Levine, Mike Daoulabani, Jim Daoulabani, and Vic Larach. 

The board honored the coaches – who included Kevin Carroll, John Ranieri, and Craig Frost --and also acknowledged four statisticians Maddy Molinaro, Lily Masterson, Colleen Downey, and Ariana Paulino. 

“It was quite the season for the young kids as going undefeated is never an easy task,” said Coach Ranieri.  

The following High School wrestlers were recognized: 

Dylan Camilo, Benoit Chestnut, Abel Crespo, Jefferson Garcia, Devin Hilburn, Jonathon Mejia, Joshua Mejia, Ryan Urban, Drew Graves, Elvin Guerrero, Gabriel Leo, Mark Montgomery, Jonathon Estivene, Sean Matthews, Sebastian Rodriguez, Antonio Antonucci, Matthew Armamento, Juan Chirinos-Villanueva, Edward Hummel, Michael Lauer, Danny Luc, Gonzalo Meza, Jorge Meza, and Javier Pinto. 

The statisticians recognized for the varsity team includes Olivia Amato, Giovanna LaTorre, Stephanie Cantrell, Gabrelle Hilburn, Madison Hummel, Narali Mota, Gianna Peterpaul, Emily Perez, and Dynasia Zayas. 

Also honored were the varsity wrestling staff of 2017 the coaches: 

Ryan Rooney, Keith Appello, Rich Greco, Mike Goff, and Connor Gabriel. 

In other business, the board hired Colleen Bodek as the high school’s Director of Guidance and Testing, effective July 1.
