ROSELLE PARK, NJ - The Roselle Park 24/7 organization made a presentation on July 4, of a check in the amount of $2,518.72 to United States Marine Lance Corporal Miguel Martinez.

As reported previously, Martinez, age 22, was paralyzed from the waist down when he was involved in a motorcycle accident in July of 2016. As a marine reservist, Martinez was gainfully employed by the military. As a result of the accident, he was discharged and is now unemployed.

The donation was part of a recent BBQ fundraiser held by the residents of Roselle Park and Roselle Park 24/7, to help cover the costs to retrofit a van for Martinez allowing him to be able to drive.

“This amount covers the costs that were not covered in retrofitting the van and allows him to drive, said Joe DeIorio, Executive Director for Roselle Park 24/7. “Miguel thanks everyone for their support and his van should arrive within 3 weeks.”

DeIorio also noted, “our organization would like to thank all of the volunteers, contributors and supporters, especially Awilda Feliciano, Eric Estevez, Karen Alvarado, authors of According to Chaco, Dr. Wendy Sweeney of 4 Paws Veterinary and Matt Permison of Killa Seasoning for this successful event. We we also want to give a special thank you to Kathy Lloyd and Doreen A. Rinaldo, the founders of Roselle 24/7 for giving Roselle Park 24/7 an opportunity to do some positive and good things for our community and its residents,”
