ROSELLE, NJ - Mayor Christine Dansereau, and other Borough officials have established the Roselle Fire Relief Action Committee to address the needs of those displaced by Saturday morning’s three-alarm fire on East Third Ave. The blaze was effectively managed by the Roselle Fire Department and resulted in no reported injuries.

The Roselle Fire Relief Action Committee gathered information from the Roselle Office of Emergency Management, Board of Health, Red Cross, Union County Department of Human Services, the Property Management office for the apartment complex, community stakeholders and more. Based on its findings, the Committee determined that financial donations were the best way to supplement existing support services and to provide relief for affected families.

“While the initial response to donate material items has been amazing, a full review of regulations governing the donation of used goods and a review of other information led to the decision of the Committee. In addition to financial support, we are working with all available resources to address housing and relocation needs,” Dansereau said.

The Roselle Fire Relief Fund was created to handle all financial donations. The fund will be managed through Roselle 24/7, a nonprofit organization established to help residents in times of crisis. All donations will be given directly to the currently displaced families. Donations can be made online at www.roselle247.org. Checks can be made out to Roselle 24/7, 333 Linden Road, Roselle, NJ 07203. The memo line should say “Fire Relief Fund.”

Councilwoman Denise Wilkerson, who represents the Borough’s 1st Ward where the fire occurred, said she is happy about the streamlined approached the Borough is taking to help those in need and will work actively with the full committee to ensure every family has the support it needs to recover.

For additional information, contact the Borough’s Clerk Office at 908-259-3011.

Years later, after the tragedy, someone remembered the Dumb Supper and what had happened there. That was the cause of it, they said, because the ritual wasn't a game after all. It really was magic, but magic has rules, and she broke them. Even when they call it a 'senseless tragedy,' people always try to find a ...
