ROSELLE PARK, NJ - The Roselle Park Council unanimously approved a resolution promoting Daniel J. McCaffery to Chief of the Roselle Park Police Department.
“Attaining the position of Chief of Police is extremely humbling, and it's not something I take lightly” commented McCaffery during his inauguration speech.
Citizens at the meeting unanimously felt that the council succeeded in the hiring of McCaffery as many felt that his qualifications were well justified for the position.
“I know this man. He’s a pillar of the community you could not have made a better choice” commented former councilmen Eugene Meola referring to Chief McCaffery.
In other business, Mayor Joseph Signorello ll motioned for ordinance 2564 “fees for recreation/community center; fees enumerated” to be amended to next meeting.
The council tabled a resolution to authorize a shared service agreement with the Plainfield Municipal Utilities Authority for curbside collection and disposal of bulky waste materials. This resolution was met with scrutiny by many residents during the public portion of the meeting.
Residents brought up the idea of internalizing bulk waste by Roselle Park DPW employees as they feel that the township has adequate staffing and equipment to do the job internally. Mayor Signorello responded that internalizing bulk waste was a great proposal and it be would be considered as well as other bidding options.
“Let’s not fix what’s not broken we have a system that works” suggested resident Karen Donnelly referring to the current waste system put in place.
Lena Ho of Orchid Nails was recognized as the Business of the Month, and the Ramirez family received an award for having the First Born Baby (Mia Magdalena), in Roselle Park for 2019.
