ROSELLE PARK, NJ - The Roselle Park Police Department is asking everyone for help for one of their officers who received two cancer diagnoses in a little over a one month period.

One of the worst things a person can hear is the words, “you have cancer”. To hear a month later that you have yet a second cancer is unthinkable, unbearable and one could say heartbreaking. This is what has happened to Roselle Park Police Lieutenant Manuel Jimenez.

According to a representative from the department, Jimenez was diagnosed on August 8 with stage 2A Pancreatic Cancer. A little over a month later, on September 19, the Lieutenant was given a second diagnosis of Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia.

Until this diagnosis, Jimenez has served the Roselle Park Community for 26 years. A Linden resident, he is married and has a daughter.

“We want to show our fellow officer who is in need of assistance during this difficult time, that he is “not alone,” said a department spokesperson.

The department has set up a fundraiser to help their fellow officer. The event is scheduled for October 20 at the Kenilworth VFW located at 33 South 21st Street from 7-11 p.m.

Cost for the event is $30 per person and will include unlimited food, beer, wine, and soda, as well as DJ entertainment.

For tickets contact Brian Swick at or Dominick Frino at

All proceeds raised will assist the Jimenez family with expenses incurred from this unexpected diagnosis.
