ROSELLE PARK, NJ - An Irvington man made an escape during a court proceeding while the judge was addressing him on Thursday afternoon that led police on a foot pursuit through part of Roselle Park.

According to Police, during a court proceeding on Thursday, September 26, at 1:10 pm, Javens Ogaus 25, of Irvington fled from the Municipal Court on E. Westfield Ave. and ran towards Walnut St. into the rear yards of several residences while officers pursued him on foot. 

RPPD officers set up a perimeter and notified Union County Sheriff's Office K-9 Search and Rescue Unit. As the K-9 unit arrived and its presence was announced, Ogaus attempted to exit one of the yards and was apprehended on the 10 Block of Charles Street.

Police said Ogaus was charged with contempt of court and 4th Degree resisting arrest. He was sent to the Union County Jail pending a future Union County Superior Court bail hearing.
