CLIFTON, NJ - A special-education teacher at Grace Wilday Junior High School in Roselle died Sunday morning in a one-car accident on the Garden State Parkway in Clifton.
According to authorities, Jessica Munoz, 30, from Rahway was traveling on the Garden State Parkway when her car slid into a guardrail and crashed into a concrete barrier.
School officials said grief counselors will be available to students and teachers at the school throughout the week.
“I am incredibly saddened by the news,” Roselle Mayor Christine Dansereau said. “All we can do is pray for her family and the many students and staff at Grace Wilday who are absolutely devastated by this tragedy. The Roselle community is there for them.”
Munoz worked at Grace Wilday Junior High School in Roselle since August. Before that, she worked at Rafael Hernandez School in Newark for almost two years. She completed her student teaching at Abington Avenue School in Newark.
