PLAINFIELD, NJ — Plainfield's Cameron Smith pitched strong into the 6th inning Tuesday throwing 110 pitches, giving up five hits and one earned run while striking out seven. The Cardinals beat Roselle Catholic's Lions 9-5, remaining unbeaten in Union County Conference Divisional Play.

Bryan Williams, Erick Rodriguez and Steven Francisco each scored two runs for the Cardinals, and Jonaury Rodriguez, Aaron Roach and Nasir Powell each added one run.

Six Plainfield players had 10 stolen bases to Roselle Catholic’s two by Quaran Williams.

Williams scored two runs for the Lions, and Zach Holte, Elijah Nelson and John Owens each scored one run. 

Cardinal Nasir Powell came in to pitch for the third out in the 6th inning, and allowed just one run to end the game.

The Lions’ Zach Holte pitched 3 innings, allowing four runs; he walked five batters, and struck out five. Danny Keane came in to pitch in the 4th inning, allowing five runs, striking out four, and walking two batters.

The Cardinals play next at David Brearley in Kenilworth on Thursday, April 29 at 4 p.m.
