ROSELLE PARK, NJ - Matt Talbot, 27, has been named the new varsity basketball coach for the Roselle Park Panthers. Talbot has coached the junior varsity team for the past five years.

“I might change the way we practice and some of the plays we run,” Talbot said. However, he does not plan to shake everything up.

He underscored his appreciation for former Head Coach Jon Bergbauer and talked about the impact he has had on all his players. “I want to continue to have a respected program,” Talbot said.

“I want to be able to teach them about character and continue to educate outside of the classroom,” said Talbot.

Talbot, a Roselle Park native, played basketball and baseball for the Panthers all four years of his high school career until he graduated in 2011. Jon Bergbauer was Talbot’s own high school coach and brought Talbot into the program as a coach after he graduated with bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Fairleigh Dickinson University.
