ROSELLE, NJ - The Roselle Rams took a loss on the first game to be played on their new field on Saturday afternoon by losing to Summit Hilltoppers 45-14.

The game started off with Roselle winning the coin toss and deferring to the visitors. The game started out rough with a quick penalty for delay of game on the kick-off. Summit was able to score on the opening drive including a 2 point conversion, making the starting score Summit 8, Roselle 0. A holding penalty on Roselle set them back on their first possession of the game, causing them to have to punt the ball back to Summit on a 4th and 17 on their own 9-yard line.

Things started to look up when Roselle was able to intercept the ball with 4:17 left in the first quarter, leading them to a touchdown followed by a successful 2 point conversion. This tied the game at 8-8 with 1:40 left in the first quarter.

The second quarter proved to be a bit more difficult for the Rams with the Hilltoppers scoring 4 more touchdowns and leading the Rams 36-8. Roselle had several penalties during the quarter including a false start, offsides, and an illegal shift. With 3 seconds left in the first half, Roselle looked as though they were about to score, but Summit intercepted the ball and took the game down into halftime. 

With the whole community excited for the opening day of the new field, the halftime show was full of pep as the Roselle Rams marching band along with the color guard took to the field. They performed quite the entertaining routine that kept the crowd excited. Following the band, the Rams Cheerleaders were up next. They had everyone on their feet and cheering ready for the second half of the game.

Roselle received the kickoff from halftime but was unable to move the ball, causing them to have to punt it away. Summit answered their first possession of the third quarter with a touchdown, but Roselle blocked the extra point, making the score Summit 42, Roselle 8. The Rams tried again but could not move the ball, having to punt it again to the Hilltoppers. Roselle kept Summit to a field goal, making the score at the end of the third quarter Summit 45, Roselle 8.
