MORRISTOWN, NJ- The Morristown CraftMarket, now celebrating its 41st consecutive year as a nationally acclaimed and charitable fine art and craft show featuring 150 gifted artists from over 25 states throughout the country, will be held Friday, Oct. 20 through Sunday, Oct. 22 at the Morristown Armory, 430 Western Avenue, Morristown.

The show hours are:

Friday, Oct. 20, 5pm to 9pm;

Saturday, Oct. 21, 10am to 6pm; and

Sunday, Oct. 22, 10am to 5pm.

“For four decades, the Morristown CraftMarket has received acclaim as a major cultural and charitable event not only in New Jersey but throughout our nation,” said Show Director Geoffrey Price, a member of the not-for-profit and all-volunteer Kiwanis Club of Randolph, which sponsors and runs the Morristown CraftMarket.

“The thousands of patrons who come each year to our show at the Morristown Armory know that we showcase extraordinary, one-of-a-kind and limited edition fine arts and crafts - all made in America by American hands - and that all our profits go to charities,” said Price.

The exhibiting artists will display and sell their original and magnificent creations in jewelry, leather, ceramics, metal, glass, wood, furniture, mixed media, wearable fiber and more.

Premature Birth is a National Health Crisis

A Silent Auction will be run throughout the show in loving memory of Robert James “RJ” Nelson, III, a brave baby boy who was born 13 1/2 weeks premature and fought hard for the right to live for 82 days  (April 6, 2016 - June 27, 2016).

The Silent Auction will put the spotlight on premature birth which the March of Dimes calls “the leading cause of death of babies in the U.S.”  (Premature Birth Report Card, www.multivu.com)  Proceeds from the Silent Auction will benefit the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit of Morristown Medical Center (“Sam’s NICU”), which helps premature babies and their families.  The Silent Auction will conclude on Sunday, Oct. 22 at 5:00 pm at the show.  Winners need not be present.

RJ’s mother, Claudia Nelson, is spearheading the Silent Auction and will help to run the large booth in the show where it will be held along with other supporters of Sam’s NICU community, including family members who had to deal with health problems - many of them tragic - with their babies.

Claudia Nelson and her husband Bob Nelson will bring RJ’s twin sister Annalise to the show.

"No parent or family ever imagines that their baby/babies will come early,” said Claudia Nelson.  “You get thrown into a world that becomes a whirlwind of emotions, similar to a roller coaster.  This roller coaster becomes your life, your heart, your home.  It is truly an honor and privilege to be part of the 41st Annual CraftMarket, and the awareness we can spotlight onto Sam's NICU at Morristown Medical Center and premature birth."

Premature birth - which affects babies of all races and ethnicities - is a leading cause of disabilities in babies that can affect their whole lives. (www.marchofdimes.org).

About 1 in 10 babies is born prematurely each year in the United States, according to the March of Dimes.  (www.marchofdimes.org)

“The numbers are staggering, as is the emotional and often financial toll on the families struggling through premature births,” said Price.  “Premature birth is a health crisis in America.  These babies are crying out for us and we need to listen to and help them.”

Opening Night Reception

The Morristown CraftMarket will host an Opening Night Reception on Friday, October 20 from 5 p.m. - 8 p.m. for patrons who are at least 21 years old.   Beer and wine will be sold.

More Snow! Let Your Kid Drive in It!

ROXBURY, NJ - We are again about to be walloped by a snowstorm. These words, first written at the beginning of winter, need to be reiterated:

They might want to rethink that.

When it snows, ...
