ROXBURY, NJ - A recipe for a perfect Memorial Day parade would include warm sunshine, shiny firetrucks, glittering ambulances, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, uniformed police, proud veterans, local politicians, the high school band, American flags everywhere and streets lined with waving citizens.

Roxbury baked it beautifully today.

In good-natured, smalltown America spendor, the 2015 Roxbury Memorial Day Parade was pretty much perfect. It was a procession of neighbors, led by the Roxbury Police Color Guard, that gradually wended its way from Meeker Stree to Horseshoe Lake under blue skies and the green leaves of a long-awaited summer..

Hanging a left onto Hillside Avenue, another on Main Street and a right onto Eyland Avene, the patriotic, the community-minded and the local heroes marched to Horseshoe Lake Park in honor of the 1.8 million Americans who died in the armed services since 1775.
