ROXBURY, NJ – In a tight but sloppy game that, as one parent put it, “left us all wondering what game the refs were watching,” the Roxbury High School girls lacrosse team beat Caldwell on Wednesday 11-9.
The Gaels led 6-4 after the first half, but both teams scored five more points in the second. They managed to burn the clock, preventing the rallying Chiefs from a come-from-behind victory.
The win brought Roxbury’s season record to 5-3.
Emma Karnitsky was the Gaels’ high scorer, finding the goal four times. Emily Koepfler scored three. Single goals were scored by Chelsea Artigliere, Riley Cummis, Jenna Kaijala and Olivia Serpa.
The team next plays today at 4 p.m. at home against North Warren Regional.
