ROXBURY, NJ - The Roxbury Boys Lacrosse team did not get a chance to compete on the field this season, thanks to COVID-19. But that didn't stop the program from celebrating its graduating seniors.
Coach Chris Blough and the Roxbury Lacrosse Parents Association (RLPA) put together a virtual senior day on May 16, the day the team was to play its last regular season home game.
The RLPA collected photos from the seniors and turned them into framed posters for the players. Roxbury High School track coach and business teacher Derek Bischoff produced the poster images for social media and print.
Blough delivered the framed photos and game jerseys to the seniors' front porches on the morning of May 16. Each player took photos in their jerseys with their families and submitted a personal write-up to be included in the virtual senior day video. Assistant Coach Ryan Williams helped find and collect game clips of the seniors in action last season to be included as well.
May 27 was to be the season-ending banquet and a celebration of a great year. "This graduating class deserves recognition for the hard work and dedication they put into making Roxbury lacrosse and Roxbury High School better over their four years," Blough said. "The entire program wishes all graduating seniors and their families the best of luck moving forward."
