MORRISTOWN, NJ – Morris Habitat for Humanity is accepting applications for 10 moderate income condominiums being built on Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue in Morristown. The affordable homes contain two or three bedrooms, 1 to 2.5 bathrooms and have additional storage in the basement. The units are energy efficient and feature energy star rated appliances. Some first floor units are handicap accessible/adaptable.
According to Morris Habitat for Humanity, the organization has built, rehabilitated or preserved 330 homes since 1985. Since the organization’s inception, there have been no foreclosures.
The homeownership program not only puts a roof over someone’s head but provides stability for families and their children. The organization believes that affordable, healthy, decent, stable homes can give a sense of dignity and pride, while providing improved health, physical safety and security.
Applicants should have a household income of at least $47,000 and there are maximum income limits based on household size. Additionally, applicants should have good credit scores and a clean credit history. Applicants will need to be willing to contribute “sweat equity” in the amount of at least 300 hours helping to build their home.
