ROXBURY, NJ – Tiffany Zieba, a gymnast and Roxbury High School freshman, will be competing in Maryland this weekend with hopes of advancing to the United States Gymnastics (USAG) Nationals later this month.

Zieba competed at NJ USAG Level 9 States in Trenton on March 26 and for the second year in a row was the NJ State Level 9 vaulting champion with a first-place vault score of a 9.750.

The Level 9 Team consisting of Zieba, Brittany Wilder and Lauren Johnson competed in four events: vault, floor, beam and bBars. The girls qualified for the Regionals by earning a score of 34 all-around or higher out of 40. The weekend-long competition will take place in Landover, MD. Teresa Brodman, the fourth gymnast on the team, was injured for the States but will be joining her teammates this weekend.

The team needs to be in the top seven of its age bracket with a minimum score of 34 all around to go on to the 2017 Nationals in Lansing Michigan at the end of the month.

Zieba also competed this fall as an Independent gymnast for Roxbury High School. Because the school doesn’t have a gymnastic team, she was the only fall athlete to place in states, earning her a varsity letter. She also participated on the indoor track team and is on the spring track team.

Zieba began gymnastics training when she as a 9-year-old.
